PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The centre comprises 22 shop units, 600 car spaces, office facilities and a cinema. The project also involved the restoration of a protected well and the creation of a linear park and amenity facility. As is commonplace with virtually all shopping centres, Dungarvan Shopping Centre includes a number of food preparation and retail areas with high standards of finish. Ground conditions on site were poor so a piled structural solution was required. The design, typical of large retail spaces, provided for large column free areas which again will be a feature of the proposed development.
PROJECT COMPLEXITIES
The key challenges on this site related to the decommissioning of Glanbia’s dairy processing facility on the site and significant time was spent on due diligence and negotiations with the EPA on IPPC Licence matters.
