Thermo King is a leader in transport temperature control solutions, and a brand of Trane Technologies. They recently launched the Advancer, a re-imagining of their trailer refrigeration unit which will be manufactured on a production line in Thermo King’s zero-waste-to-landfill plant in Galway. The new production line includes a “feeder building” to house robot welding cells which speed up the welding process of the support frames for the truck refrigeration units produced on site which in turn supports Thermo King / Trane Technologies drive towards a more automated streamlined production process. Malone O’Regan were tasked with designing the building to fit in and around existing buildings on site which made the project more challenging. The project also involved breaking into the existing factory on one side to provide automated links to the existing production lines. Malone O’Regan provided full Architectural, Civil & Structural, Mechanical & Electrical design services for the building, obtaining planning permission, procurement and construction contract administration.
